WACC photo competition 2011 launched Print E-mail


 

The annual Photo competition of the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC), 2011, has been launched. The theme is Zero tolerance for HIV and AIDS stigma and discrimination.

Photographers are invited to submit inspirational photos illustrating people and communities working for zero tolerance of HIV and AIDS stigma and discrimination.

 

Winning photos will be seen around the world, so preference will be given to photos that convey meaning without relying on the written word. Photographers must take care to respect the wish of any person with HIV or AIDS who does not want to be publicly identified.

The photos must be loaded on Flickr. If you do not have an account on Flickr, you need to create one by following this link… and then join the competition.

Winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes. There will be one first prize and five commendations. The first prize is $500 and each commendation will be awarded $200.

The closing date is 1 May 2011. Winners will be announced later in May.

The competition, in its eigth year, is being run on Flickr for the sixth time!

This popular event brings together hundreds of photographers from around the world with each photo on the subject of communication. Last year’s theme was Communication and Poverty. The winning photo was submitted by Chetan Soni, a news Photographer for a National Hindi daily, DainikBhaskar. The photo featured a volunteer teaching basic computer skills to tribal poor children in Dhar (mp) India.
